LDA events, including the annual RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship, the premier event in power golf, are adrenaline-drenched, high-impact affairs. LDA competitors are sultans of swing speed and monsters of mash, who routinely produce drives with astounding carry and roll. Such imposing figures as Jason Zuback, Sean "The Beast" Fister and reigning RE/MAX world champion Mike Dobbyn dot the LDA landscape.

Let's break down LDA competitions:

LDA's annual RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship crowns champions in five competitive divisions and identifies the world's longest golfer. The 2008 championship will have a purse of $600,000 and pay the open division champion $250,000. The finals take place in October in Mesquite, Nevada after an eight-month qualifying process worldwide.

LDA's Exceptional Driver Championship is a contest for amateur golfers that rewards accurate power. The 2007 finals take place in June 2008 in Mesquite, Nevada, where the winner will walk away with $100,000 and the title "Greatest Driver of a Golf Ball in North America." Qualifying events in the first five months of 2008 feed into the finals.

LDA also conducts members-only professional events, starting with the annual Desert Launch in February. The RE/MAX of Texas Shootout in Dallas has become a staple on the LDA's spring schedule.
